The calculator does not determine the appropriate target amount or diluent for an experiment.
Milligrams and micrograms measure mass: 1 mg equals 1,000 mcg. Milliliters measure volume. On a U-100 scale, 100 units equals 1 mL. The calculator converts vial mass to mcg, divides by the entered volume to obtain mcg/mL, then divides the target amount by that concentration to obtain sample volume. It multiplies that volume by 100 to display U-100 units. Units describe volume on this scale; they are not a fixed mass of peptide.
